Art Brown has served as a leadership catalyst for over 20 years. He is a member of Spencer Stuart’s Board, CEO, Consumer, Private Equity and Marketing and Sales Officer practices. He concentrates on the consumer sector, advising on talent and leadership. Art works with boards and their committees to help guide CEO succession planning and development. Additionally, he leads executive searches for CEOs, board directors and C-suite executives. Increasingly, his time is devoted to advising clients in the areas of leadership benchmarking, board development, top-team effectiveness and culture enhancement efforts.
Combination of consulting and consumer expertise
Art primarily focuses on the packaged goods and durables sector, while also serving big-box retailers. He has led assignments for a host of global and North American companies and has advised many leading private equity firms and their portfolio companies.
In addition to his client work, Art has held a variety of leadership roles at the firm, including leading the firm’s Eastern U.S. region, leading the North American Consumer Practice and managing both the New York and Stamford offices. He also served as the first leader of the Consumer Packaged Goods & Durables Practice for North America.
Art joined Spencer Stuart after several years at a boutique search and management consulting practice. Previously, he was a senior-level commercial management and strategy executive in consumer businesses, most recently, as vice president of strategy and development at Pepsi-Cola North America. He began his career with Procter & Gamble.
Art earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology and history at the University of Richmond and serves on the Executive Advisory Board of the Jepson School of Leadership at the University of Richmond.
