Spencer Stuart recently sat down with Banco Santander Brasil Chairman Sergio Rial for a wide-ranging discussion touching on the top priorities for CEOs today, the underappreciated skills CEOs need to develop, why culture is so important and the career decisions that can have the biggest impact. He also describes some of his own experiences throughout his career, such as the development of a global mindset and the necessity of genuine human interaction in ensuring both organizational success and personal development.

In additional to his role with Banco Santander, Rial sits on the boards of Delta Air Lines and Cyrela Brazil Realty. Until recently, he served as CEO of food processing giant Marfrig Global Foods. Previously, he was chief financial officer and board director for the worldwide food conglomerate Cargill.
